There are many folks and anecdotes associated with Bhangarh fort. According to a legend, this village was cursed by a local who practiced black magic. He loved the princess and professed his love to her.

But when the princess rejected his proposal he plotted to cast a spell on a cosmetic that the princess was supposed to use. But the princess was out of reach of this poor chap, she sensed some foul play and decided to throw the cosmetic on a stone, which killed the man.

Before dying he cursed the place that no one will be able to live peacefully in Bhangarh. You will find many more stories told by the locals about the place, most of them spooky.

If you are planning to visit Bhangarh, leave from Jaipur as early as 5 AM in the morning. Located 85 Kms from Jaipur it might take you 1.5 hour to reach this place.

The place is off bound after 6 PM in the evening as Government of India takes the horror tales quite seriously. You will find a board by Archaeological Survey of India that states, Bhangarh is off limits after 6 PM.

2. Chittorgarh Fort

Chittorgarh Fort is located 300 kms away from Jaipur. One of the best destinations for bikers, the road to this place is great and you will enjoy biking on the smooth roads.  Declared as UNESCO heritage site, Chittorgarh Fort is flocked by many Indian and Foreign tourists.

It is one of the largest forts in India. Within the fort there are many palaces, gates, temples and minarets called Vijay Stambha.

It was erected by Maharaja Kumbha between 1458 to 1468 to commemorate the victory over Mahmud Shah I Khalji. The Vijay Stambha has 157 narrow steps, leading to the terrace.

The fort is famous for the story associated with Rani Padmavati. It is said she chose honour over life. When her husband Raja Ratan Singh was defeated in battle by Allaudin Khilji, she immolated herself along with the wives of other warriors to save her modesty from the lusty king.

3. Ranthambore National Park

Located around 180 kms from Jaipur, Ranthambore National Park is known for the tigers. The National Park is spread over an area of 392 sq. Km. Inside the National Park you can also see the Ranthambore Fort, one of the UNESCO heritage forts of Rajasthan.

The Fort inside was built by the Chauhan rulers. However, the exact date is not known. Many wars were fought between the local Chauhan rulers and the foreign Islamic invaders.

In the 17th century the fort was passed to the Kachwaha maharajas of Jaipur and remained with them until Jaipur was absorbed in India.

You can experience the elephant safari inside the national park to see the wildlife closely. Apart from elephant safari you can also opt for canter or jeeps to experience the flora and fauna of the national park in natural habitat.
